Cute Clipboards

I made two new full size clipboards yesterday. I posted them on my etsy shop. I just looked and this one of hasn't even been viewed, yet. I felt I needed to give it needed a little love - I think it's adorable, but I, much like a doting mother, am a bit biased. What do you think?

Madison's Journal

I wanted to share this special order journal for a birthday girl...it has 100 lined pages and 40 blank pages...chipboard covers. I had a lot of fun making it! It was much like that contest I was in. I was given a little direction and left free to create. Fun.

Creative Chaos

My favorite scrapbook store is going out of business....well, trying to find a buyer. The current owner of Creative Chaos wants to sell the business. This makes me very sad. It is so nice to have a neighborhood scrapbook store. I went by the other day and Carmen, one of the wonderful ladies that works there, was working on a page with her daughter. The store was closed already, but I walked right in. She was welcoming and I told her I needed to get some paper to make my father's day gift. She let me take what I needed and told me to pay for it next time I was in. I can guarantee you, Hobby Lobby won't be doing that for you any time soon. Long live the neighborhood shops. I hate to see this owner go, but I hope the business doesn't disappear all together. Support the moms and pops of the world.

My Rachel, My Muse

So, the K4 page inspired me to make the sign for my daughter's door that she has been asking for. She loves it....she helped with the doodles. I think I just found my newest product line for my shop on etsy. Yay. I It is made from a piece of scrap 1" x 4" that my husband was tossing out. Lock up the workshop, honey, because here I come!!

Just can't wait

I haven't heard about the results for my contest yet. I have been working like a dog on these recycled books. This is my favorite, so far.
I also really like the Hershy Bar Book...chocolate and scrapbooking go together like peanutbutter and jelly. My husband knows when I am going to have a crop or just do some serious scrapbook time, because I head to my room with a bag of miniature reese cups....mmmmmm.

Productivity Galore

I have had quite the weekend. I backed up all my photos...yes ALL of my photos...that took most of the day today. I created my synergy layout for Scrap Idol. I cleaned my entire craft area. Took photos of all item I have made but never got a round to posting on my website AND I posted about 40 new items on my etsy website. I am exhausted. I tied all my coasters with ribbon, too.

Scrap Idol 6

Yea - I made it another week. This week's challenge is to create a layout use only one product line. Our choices were Cosmo Cricket, Basic Grey, or My Mind's Eye. I chose Cosmo Cricket. Here is the result.
Okay - so my layout this week may not make sense to anyone not an engineer...The title - synergy...is a term my husband used to refer to what our relationship lacked during a rough patch in college. Yes, he was an engineer major. The term kind of stuck throughout the years as we have created this life of happy chaos together. I mostly used the Hello Sunshine line from Cosmo Cricket. I rarely make a page without ribbon and Hello Sunshine did not come with ribbon, so that is Jack's World. The message board, chipboard flowers and frame are Bare Naked by Cosmo. I used my cricket to sut out the title with the exception of the S...that was a part of the die cut sheet of alphabet. So here it is...week six.

Scrap Idol Week 5

The contest continues. Scrap Idol at the Scrapbook Supply Store in Greer, SC is in week 5 of its competition. I am really enjoying it. This week the requirements were to use at least 4 photos, 3 embellishments, and a summer theme. It had to be a 12x12 layout...1 or 2 page spread. This is my entry for week 5. We will find out in the next day or so who is eliminiated. Wish me luck.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

So now I am in to these notebooks. I am constantly scouring the trash at not only my house, but in others' homes. I have a problem. I am making note books out of recycled food boxes. They are absolutely perfect. I wish I could take credit for the idea, but I found them on etsy. I can not remember the store, but I thank you, whomever you are. My kids absolutely love them. They have been reading this series of books called "The Diary of a Whimpey Kid". They are going to town writing and drawing in their own diaries made from their favorite snacks. Fun.

Scrap Idol Entry 4

I am not too thrilled with this page for this week's entry to the Scrap Idol Contest. It was uninspired. I very well may get the axe this round. Grandma and Grandpa look great, though. Don't they?

About My Name

I have always been displeased with the misspelling of words for commercial purposes. Kids R Us, Plez U, phonetics annoy me. Yet, here I sit. Miss Elaineous. I have no excuse for myself.

The name seems so obvious to me and, quite frankly, I would not know what else to call my store? I sell miscellaneous stuff - Decoupage Diva? Frame Fanatic? Scrappy Spappy? I am open for suggestions.

Embellished Wooden Picture Frames

I started to use the decoupage technique on picture frames last year. One style of frame that I use measures approximately 5 x 7 and holds and image approximately 4x6.

The frame is of sturdy wood construction and is painted. Then it is covered with quality scrapbook paper. Sometimes I ink the edges; it just depends on the paper and my mood. These frames are for the table top but ribbon could easily be added to the backside for hanging.

Often times I make entire collections from the same line of paper so gift sets can easily be put together. Personalization is a breeze, too. Add an initial or a whole name.

Check out all of my frames at Miss Elaineous Gifts.

New Coasters

So I am trying my hand at a new product in the decoupage world and it is these adorable embellished coasters. They are 4.25 x 4.25 white tiles decoupaged with scrapbook paper. The Modpodge is coated on several times. Then each is covered with a glossy acrylic sealer. I used felt circles on the corners of the back side to protect any surfaces from scratches. They can be used as coasters or trivets. I also made some larger peices just to serve as trivits. Each set of four comes in a brown box tied with ribbon with a matching gift card attached.
Add a little color to your life!

Scrap Idol Week 3

So I have entered a contest at a local store. It is set up like American Idol, but with designing scrapbook pages and projects. They give you the supplies and you have 1 week to create whatever you want using 90% of the materials. You can add your own elements, as long as you use 90% of their product. Each week someone is eliminated. The contest runs through May. Click the link below to see all entries for all contestants. It has been a lot of fun. My week 2 did not get posted, but week one, did. I am getting better at this.

Go to http://scrapbooksupplystore.ning.com/forum to see all of the entries. We are currently in week 3.

9 X 12 Clipboards

Large Clip Board

I can't even remember what made me start embellishing clipboards. This is the product that started my esty store. I thought it was going to be all scrapbooks. Then I discovered the joy of decoupage.

I like to keep my clipboards fairly simple and not bulky. This was a popular one - I sold quite a few. The monogram was the clincher. Someone once told me people will buy anything with a monogram on it. She has since gone out of business, but I she might have been on to something. Who knows.

All of my clipboards are sealed with mod podge to reinforce it and to prevent the paper from tearing. I paint them first and I also sand the edges for a finished look. Ribbon usually tops off my clipboards. Either bundles of thin ribbon or one large bow as pictured here. A gorgeous and fun clipboard. This is a standard letter sized clipboard – measures approximately 12” x 9”. Like I said before, I like the practical design for ease of use - no chunky stuff to get in the way of writing. My clipboards are great gifts for someone you have no ideas for. Who couldn't use a clipboard? Monograms are at no additional charge to make it a truly personal gift. I have even added full names to them. Fun Fun Fun.
